The Surreal World
Chalk it up to the thrill of surviving what must have been one of Boston’s
longest and darkest winters, but we’re having a serious Schiaparelli moment. The late Italian legend’s joyful surrealism (she went so far as to design
dresses with Dali) is the ultimate antidote to the gray skies behind us — and
there may be no better way to do justice to her signature shade of shocking
pink than to pull on one of the wearable treasures from Christian Dior’s
Intrecciato collection. The handmade Large Shopper bag is as roomy as can
be inside, and an intricate basket weave of cloud-soft, full-grain lambskin
outside. Most importantly, each one sings with deep color — splashy tie-
dyed blue, amethyst, beige, cream, lustrous white, or a black that’s anything
but basic. As for us, we’ll do Elsa proud with one in her darling pink — and
carry it like a bright light at the end of a long tunnel.
