BON VIVANT
YOUR PARTY HAS ARRIVED
The retail world may not exactly be pulling hordes in to shop right about now, but no question, it’s getting them in to party. They came
out in full force, for example, to fete the ultra-snazzy new Gucci boutique — a virtual museum full of drool-worthy accessories and ready-to-wear — now housed in The Mandarin Oriental Hotel. They also filed into The Liberty Hotel to peek at the artful handiwork of Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido, which showed off its collection in an artful runway show. At Saks Fifth Avenue’s Want It! event, the
champagne flowed — as did the clothes, all thoughtfully mixed spring pieces, enthusiastically ushered in and finessed by WHDH’s Frances Rivera. And Stil owner Betty Riaz and her hilariously fun staff rocked The Shops at the Prudential with an opening party (to replace
her Newbury Street boutique with a bigger space in the mall). Meanwhile, the crowd was jazzed enough about such an opening to take
over a solid quarter of the store, which had been cleared to make room for dancing among the racks of international and local clothes.
