BON VIVANT
YOUR PARTY HAS ARRIVED
Local style zealots owed themselves an enormous standing ovation for this year’s Boston Fashion Week, during which the city rallied
in an unprecedented way for a week’s worth of incredibly well-attended events by its stores and artists, and runway shows by young
local designers like Sam Mendoza, Daniela Corte, and the handful of up-and-comers who participated in the Emerging Trends at the
Jorge Hernandez Cultural Center show. Things kicked off with a bang on September 12 at the Fashion Boston Anniversary Party.
The cavernous Concourse at Seaport Hotel World Trade Center glowed with the lights of a live fashion shoot (featured on page 11)
and was packed with 500-plus fashion-industry and V.I.P. guests, who took turns getting touch-ups at the makeup station, gawking
at the models, trying on Jimmy Choo shoes, dancing, and mugging on the photo set for cameras during the formal shots. Earlier that
day, the Fenway to the Runway event drew an equally well-heeled crowd at The Natick Collection. There the Red Sox Wives modeled
classic clothes from Stil, Michael Kors, and MaxMara, among other Natick shops, while guests lunched and ogled the outfits in the
mall’s sun-filled Atrium setting — a civilized but chic way to kick off the week of fashion revelry that followed.
