Some people party for politics,
some to blow off steam. Some do
it to network, to rejoin with old friends,
or seek out new ones. Others need a
social cause to truly get their gala on.
What they should all have in common:
a knack for donning something mag-
nificent, an anomaly in their everyday
wardrobe, to mark the occasion. After
all, fantastic events deserve equally
fantastic outfits — and this issue we
raise a special glass to the season’s
new iterations of the L.B.D., several
of which are in the spotlight on these
pages. More sultry and sleek than ever,
they evoke film noir glamour and ’90s
minimalism simultaneously, and are
built to both boldly accentuate the
female form and serve as a framework
for divine accessories. We put them
to the test, alongside several other key
party separates, and shot them live
at (where else?) the Fashion Boston
anniversary party. The clothes fueled
the party from their center-stage
photo set, and was truly something to
celebrate — for any old reason at all.
Not that you ever really needed one.
